FULL STORY ======================================================================Garmin could be giving its Health Status feature a long overdue upgrade, Gadgets and Wearables has spotted During its breakdown of Connect 5.20, the outlet believes that you'll soon be able to view health metrics in a new timeline orientation Right now, Health Status only lets you view data one day at a time, but you might be able to view multiple days, or even weeks worth of metrics
When it comes to the best fitness trackers , Garmin is up there due to comprehensive features like Health Status, which compiles five key metrics (heart rate, HRV, respiration, skin temp and pulse ox) for a brief window
into your overall health. At present, you can only view one day at a time in the Garmin Connect app but that could soon change.
According to a teardown of Garmin Connect 5.20 by Gadgets and Wearables , it appears as though the fitness tracking giant is preparing to expand Health Status capabilities beyond its one-day overview of key metrics. Soon, Garmin watch users could view data spanning days, and maybe even weeks, in a single view rather than cycling through each day's metrics.
Garmin launched its Health Status feature last year, which takes its five different metrics and compares them to your baseline, possibly detecting
early signs of illness.
Only being able to view these metrics one day at a time means its difficult
to see changes in your health history or view rolling summaries. Its just one of Garmins minor fitness tracking setbacks, but an upgrade could be on the way.
In its teardown, Gadgets and Wearables came across backend support for a new getSummaries function in Garmin Connect 5.20 with start and end dates. This would allow you to request multiple days worth of health metrics, presenting vital data in the style of a timeline which would be a huge help for
calendar views and keeping tabs on personal health trends over longer periods of time.
Additionally, the outlet also spotted evidence of a healthStatusFormatter, which implies that your data is being prepared to display your data somewhere in the Connect app user interface.
As per the report, Gadgets and Wearables share that this usually signals that the data will be shown somewhere, adding that formatters arent added unless the end result is destined for the UI. With that in mind, it could be that Garmin takes the diagram approach for presenting data.
Right now, Garmin hasnt declared when or if these Health Status upgrades will roll out its all still speculation however, the recent evidence strongly suggests that its definitely on the way, regardless of how long it will take. As well as Health Status upgrades, Garmin has a new plan to improve your fitness using your food intake just by using your phones camera.
