Description:
Meta is planning on releasing a successor to the Meta Quest 3, and it sounds like we'll see some changes.
FULL STORY
We're very much fans of the Meta Quest 3 and the Meta Quest 3S , so hopes are high for whatever the follow-up happens to be and a few more details around the Meta Quest 4 just leaked (though that might not be what it's called).
These details come from virtual reality veteran Nima Zeighami (via Android Central ), and back up some of the rumors we've heard so far. We also get
some fresh details on how much this device is going to cost you.
As per the leak, the next Meta AR/VR headset will be smaller and lighter, in part due to a separate external "puck" that contains the computing and
battery components something that's previously been mentioned by other
sources .
Zeighami also backs up what we've already heard about the device coming with built-in eye and face tracking, and a higher resolution display. Even with
that screen boost though, it's not expected to be quite as high-res as the Samsung Galaxy XR , for example.
We also get a tip about pricing here: apparently the Meta Quest 4 is going to cost in the region of $800 in the US. That's roughly 610 / AU$1,230 at
today's rates, although Meta is unlikely to use straight currency conversions for its international pricing.
For comparison, the Meta Quest 3 currently goes for $499.99 / 469.99 / AU$1,049.99, while the pricing for the Meta Quest 3S begins at $299.99 /
289.99 / AU$499.99. We're looking at quite the price hike and Zeighami isn't even sure controllers will be included.
Finally, despite the way we've referred to the device here, this leak
suggests that Meta will go with a new naming scheme for its next headset and abandon the Quest moniker though as yet we have no idea what the new name is going to be.
We might also have quite a while to wait for the headset: it's rumored to be launching sometime in 2026 at the earliest.
