(Psst! Watch this! Daryl will try to make that 'meat' and do a
bad pun on ham! <gg>)
I was thinking it was the Grinch swapping a few of your key
caps. (Poor guy's really in a funk with the virtual
keyboards!)
Flash back time! Used to be a Denny's Restaurant where a
friend and I would sometimes grab a late-ish dinner: 7 or 8; I
don't recall when they closed but was several hours later.
They consistently ran out of baked potatoes! Potatoes are one
of the easiest items to hold: bake a bunch, pile in the warmer
because they don't squish.
And...(while I'm om my fast food rant soapbox...) The audacity
to charge $15 bucks for a meal is beyond me...
Been licensed since the late Fiftys.
Currently not active on the airwaves.
I remember when I worked for 2 local Burger King franchises from
1978 to 1984, that the price of a Whopper was $1.19 -- and sales
tax was 7 cents on the dollar. Now, the price can be well over $6,
and sales tax is 15 cents on the dollar.
4) Struck by lightning twice (indirect, but I still got the shock...
1) Have Another Meal, or Have A Muffin -- two things hams love to do
are talk and eat...
2) Haven't Any Money (if you're poor), or Have Abundant Money (if you're rich).
I'm not drunk...my keyboard is illiterate!!

That is a *lot* of sales tax! :O

Noting 5 Violent Lightning Zaps...as I have been:
1) Under 2 tornadic funnel clouds.
2) With a mile of 2 tornadoes (F-1 and F-4).
3) Close to drowning in a flash flood.
4) Struck by lightning twice (indirect, but I still got the
shock, and have nervous system damage...but I carry no electrical
charge, and can be handled safely (hi hi)).
Ed,
Only the early 90's for me.
Active on the air every day. I hope to figure out remotehams.com
soon, where I can get on HF.

Daryl, remotehams.com ?
Are you saying a website would act as a HF XCVR for you?
Or does the website use separate TX and RX?
At least whatever HF freq it uses You are licensed to operate
on that freq.
I would suppose that website is using Packet , ASCII or RTTY.

Ed,
I believe it does both.
Being an Amateur Extra Class licensee, I would hope so (hi hi).
I mainly want to do use it for checking into a few nets. I'm not
one for contesting or special event stations.
Not sure.

The login requires a callsign, so if your not a ham, you can't get in. Even if you could, a better option for SWL is using the KiwiSDR and WebSDR websites which don't require a seperate app.

I looked at the website.
It looks like other hams allow their radios to be used by way
of a internet connection for other hams.
SWL's can listen using that service too
Oh, I found my ROUNDTUIT to find out what FT8 is for.
To me it is a Packet/modified RRTY type system.
A long time ago I used Packet with Digicom, a C=64 and the 2
Meter rig I had back then.
You sure they didn't remove the wrong growth? <gg>
Ed,
I think that unless you've been approved by the station owner,
you can only listen.
A lot of hams are using that mode now...and there are 2 big RTTY
contests each year.
I still have an MFJ 1270C TNC with a power supply, and cable
from the rig to the computer. However, I have no rig or cable
to it. MFJ went out of business last year, and I doubt you can
get any special cables anymore.

Does the MFJ cable use standard connectors where You could
build one if it needed to be replaced? (That is when you have
gear to use it with).
