It's actually a pretty involved process. You use a program called
"WinUAE" or AmiBerry and configure a lot of things to be able to launch into a real emulated Amiga environment. It's also a pretty deep rabbit hole if you get into it...I started with Amigas late (2009ish) but am still obsessed.
It's actually not all that bad, I installed WinUAE back in 2018, set some settings in the program. Used the 3.1 disks and ROMS I had from a cheap copy of Amiga Forever and installed and it ran great from the start. I picked up a copy of AOS 3.9 from a Garage Sale, installed that ran my BBS on it till 3.2 came out, bought that and have been running my BBS on that with no issues. I tell anyone wanting to get into the emulation side Google is your best friend..
I got into Amiga's in 1992, bought my A500 for $299 back then, used it to run a BBS and do some BBS calling then picked up a 3000 for $799 from a place selling out their stock of Amiga stuff.. Did some upgrades on that . I loved every minute of it till CBM went belly up and sold the 3000 for $900.. Went PC after that. I still love the Amiga, wish I would have never given away all of my Commodore stuff back in 15 though.. My 500 had a few upgrades also.. :(
