Using aciddraw (I think ,maybe it's thedraw) I can set the speed of an ANSI. What is ideal for BBS's? I'd like my scrollers to display at a decent speed.
I thought I had a solution, but it crashes syncterm and connectbot as well
as the BBS if those terminals are used... I was using doorway and an ansi display door. (ansidis).

I personally like 38,400 for ANSi - but I guess thats subjective; 80s
25x80 screens were pretty wonderful @ 2400... but the later scrollers, and especially 1000+ line ones, needed more than 14.4k to be anything other
than SLOW. :P

Imagine watching the ACiD TRiP [4000+ line ANSi] @ < 38.4k - OMG.

0-255 are the options... Sorry I wasn't specific.

It's not mandatory. You can use either the quick login, or customize the
long login however you want.

I cannot stand 1000000 line ANSIs ... I always hit SPACE to stop praying it works. I don't see an issue to have it display to a user unless they were in an ANSI door, LOOKING at ANSIs.

I have a ton of art packs in my ANSI door that are 100000000 lines, but you can scroll up and down and look at it. I hate being FORCED to see them. I want to get to the MAIN MENU as quickly as possible and do what I came to do.

Reminds me of the few Iniquity & Obv/2 boards we had in the area at one time.

They ALL had scrollers, custom menus with custom Ansis everywhere.... all
the same gang of callers, all the same noise in the message areas, all the same pirated warez, all the same doors... nothing really original.

The boards I did admire as original around here were ones ran by a crackpot religous zealot... Ohhh mannnnn the bible this, the bible that, Jesus this, Jesus that... was entertainment in itself. Subsequently we also had a self-described satanic board... another nutjob but slightly more personable.

Then there was the wannabe-Rusty-'n-Edie pornographer couple with their stock TriBBS which they bragged at a local Sysop meetup was "the best software" and never shut-up about it or their file section which really you could've found on other boards that didn't care about the whole age verification nonsense.

Ahh but my favourite was the Searchlight guy who deliberately took the modem offhook to create the illusion of a busy board.

All of my ANSI is optional. The scrollers are random as well.

Setting them up in that manner is a good idea. It allows people to enjoy them a time or two and then opt out if they prefer.
