George,
Rule #1: No autoposts, please.
As you wish...I have sent out a final post that except for the local
message areas, all autoposts of Today In History and otherwise have
been SUSPENDED, unless I hear from the echo moderator that they are
OK. As a result, they will appear on my BBS ONLY.
BTW, I am the echo moderator, but I'm having trouble getting my netmail going. . . If you check the echo info, you'll see me listed as owner/mod, via this location.
No autoposts of puns or others either, please. I hope you'll spend a little time as we all used to in here bac in the '90s, &just read, reply, & post your favourites. . . If you read a funny autopost on your BBS, feel free to copy/paste it into a message originating from yourself into here.
ObFunny:
Ehat's rthe differene between sorority girls in the north & onres in the south?
In the north they say, "You can have me tonight." In the south they say, "You all can have me tonight."
With the BBS Ads message areas, several postings of an ad for a BBS
are done several times a day, and numerous times a week. I had to turn
on Duplicate Checking to get rid of those extra messages.
To me, the extra ad postings are overkill...folks should want to logon
to a BBS because they WANT to, and NOT because they HAVE to. With my
health and schedule, mine is usually the only one I logon to, and I can
not do it every day. I was tied up yesterday with "The Weather Watch Net" with Winter Weather Advisories for freezing rain across much of the state during the day. Combined with very little sleep the night before, I was exhausted.
Exhaustion sucks, believe me, I know. . . yours was the only bbs I was logging onto except for this one, but it's not been open my last 20+ attempts. . . :(
Or like the song "She's Gone, Gone, Gone"...in this case, to WalMart.
Her husband's dying wish is to be buried at WalMart, so his wife will
come and see him every day.
I almost fell in love with a YouTube singer(Jessica Frech) who did a song & video called "People of Walmart" highlighting how after dark in the 24-hour ones, people come in dressed like they're sdjop[ping on Amazon at their personal computer or phone at home.
I wish for you much joy!
Like with Thanksgiving, I will spend the rest of my holidays home
alone. Except for the meaning of certain days, each day is just another
day on the calendar of life anymore. With all the holidays being on a Thursday this year (US Thanksgiving, then Christmas and New Years), I
likely won't talk to anyone...unless they call on the phone. Wednesday
and Thursday are my 2 nights of the week I don't have to run ham radio traffic nets.
Don't you connect with church friends for mis-week Bible groups/studies? I know I was all involved in several back in the day, including leading several.
Just stick a notice in the bulletin, that you're hosting a small group Bible study & prayer group on day/time you prefer, & have them call or email you to sign up.
You can find ideas for topics online, or just brainstorm it among the attendees each week for the coming week; you can discuss the past sermon, current events, and always open & close in prayer, of course, & an hour or two is a great time each week with a new or old group of friends!
Rotate houses every now & again (you'd just need to let it be known that you're not able to drive any more, & need assistance to/from other locations)
Connect with your reverend to ask for topics to discuss &/or pray about, so you're an intimate part of the church as a whole. Encourage others to likewise step up & lead a group following their own style/format.
It's kind of like a mini topical BBS, but in person.
Rotate or drae names for who provides nibbles(refreshment("chocolate home baking preferred!" I would pop up from the sidelines when the request went out)), if you choose to have such.
Ost usually provides coffee (decaf &/or hi-test,as desired); I'd provide the first & then request coffee tins as contributions for future &/or tea, for those who want it. (the Ladies. . . *LOL*)
Never a reason to be alone except for when you want to be!
