Greetings folks,

I've released version 2.1 of the AI-WX Weather Door and it's available on my BBS at firesidebbs.com:23231 or on the website at firesidebbs.com. This version has support for a new tile mapping API (rainbow.ai) that enables highly accurate weather radar using industry standard tile mapping.

NOTE: The previous radar API (rainviewer) has been sunsetted and is no longer functional. You will need to visit the new API's website and obtain a free API key at https://developer.rainbow.ai/signup. After obtaining your free API key, you can either edit your lwsdoor.ini file and add your API key and switch the line that reads RadarTileAPI=V to read RadarTileAPI=R or you can download version 2.1, that only supports the new radar API from my BBS at firesidebbs.com:23231 or the website at firesidebbs.com.

Also, I'm about to release a new free door game called Shut The Box, I'll post more later.

ANSI and Sixel support in this door is awesome! Check it out, this is certainly the fullest featured weather door available for Windows and Linux systems. If you've got a DOS board running under Windows 10+, you can use it as well!

This is outstanding work. It's...kind of next-level.

If anyone is interested in this and running Mystic on Linux, definitely check the FAQ file near the end:

was absolutely necessary, but once I added that, the display cleared up.

I have a question. Currently, I'm testing with the following arguments:

-D%P (door.sys hook)
-I%4 (pass geolocated IP address of user)
-U (show current conditions by default)

It would be nice to have an option, upon exiting from the Current Conditions view, to drop to the main menu for the door, rather than out of the door entirely. I totally get why the default behavior is as it is (such as if you'd like to just show something during the login process) and then immediately continue on.

However, for now at least, I'm running this from my Door menu, and it would be nice to show current conditions by default, then drop back to the menu for the door with the...almost shocking number of other options. If this is possible already, please let me know.

Again, outstanding work. Getting weather working through DUAT back in the 90s was, for some odd reason, amazingly satisfying. This door you wrote is something else entirely.

Thanks Chris, I appreciate the kind words, I really do. Currenty the door only runs executable command line parameters one at a time. But you could achieve something close to what you want with a batch/bash file. One line could call the -D%P -I%4 -U parameters as you are currently doing and then a second line could call the -D%P -I%4 -Q parameters that would drop the user to the Main Menu. It would not be as seemless as me doing it within code, but I think it would do what you want.

It appears the previous rainviewer API is still providing data for the endpoints that AI-WX utilizes, so there is no need to switch to the rainbow.ai API. Although the rainbow.ai API is superior in my opinion, either one will provide the needed data to display the ANSI and/or Sixel animated radar within the door.
