Im getting tired of Microsoft and Google and that led to my increased movement towards Apple.

I just need to learn how to setup Mystic/Mac when I get a mac mini m5.

I am getting tired of them ALL. Microsft, Apple, Google, Samsung.

I should NOT have to provide an email address to use a piece of hardware PERIOD!

You will love the Mac Mini, it is a very powerful computer in a small package, and Apple silicon is a very capable processor. My only complaint with Apple moving away from the x86 archetecture was the loss in versatility of being able to run ANYTHING ina VM.

Or don't put your eggs in one basket. I ended up divorcing myself from Microsoft Office and just only have the web based version this year and then next June i will cancel that subscription.

Right now I am trying to find a good archiver for my mac.

I was going to say to matt, talk about jumping from the frying pan into
    the fire!

Tempting to get a cheap PC that doesn't support Windows 11, load NetBSD
on it and call it a day.

They are tempting, as is the whole ecosystem. I've been tempted by
iPhones - the rest of my family has them, and Apple has successfully
roped people into iMessage, Apple Pay, and FaceTime - this generation
    of kids is completely Apple-centric.

I'd like to be able to send my daughter money through Apple Pay, and
use the Share Location feature in iMessage. But then, I'd be tempted to
get an Apple watch, which won't connect to my Android Phone, then why
not get a Mac Mini along with it all?

    It's a slippery slope. But, it's pretty...

This is a frustration of mine and led to me purchasing a beefed up i9 MBP in the last intel series. While annoying, at least there are ARM releases of most Linux distros and now Windows 11. Killed my ability to trst and support kegacy Windows outside of emulation vs virtualization options. Still a very happy Apple user though. :)

What is wrong with the built in .zip support? Just right click on the file, multiple files, or folder and select Compress.

If you are feeling adventurous you can always use .tar/gzip from the command line.

I was an Apple user for DECADES.... Still have my Mac Mini, and still use a Macbook PRO for my daily laptop.

Went AMD about 6 years ago for my daily driver because I was bitten by the flight sim bug again, and if I am going to shell out 4k for a desktop, I am going to use it for everything.

It does make a good platform for VMs for cert study and as interim machines while I am upgrading my Windows Servers.

The only thing I am still in the process of trying to find is a good vido editing platform besides an Adobe product. They have really fallen out of favor with me since they no longer have an stadalone / non subscription based product.

I am a large fan of Keka for macOS. While it costs money when obtained via the App Store, you can get it for free from their website via direct download.

Keka for 5.99 wasnt too bad as a donation to the programmer, and archiver seemed too overpriced for what it does.
