Unfortunately, Altzheimer's runs in my family. My 93 yr old mother does not even know who I am anymore... this worries me for the future.
But I am still going to try to get the wife and myself on
Linux as soon as I retire and don't have to use Windows for
my job. I have already put Mint on her old laptop so she
can start getting ready... if I give her all her tools, she
should be ok after a slight learning curve. I need to get
M$oft out of my life permanently.
It seems "the internet" is upset with MS about their new requirement
to disallow windows 11 on entirely local machines (ie. without
accounts on live.com, full time internet access, ads etc).

That's sad. :( Sorry to hear.

I wonder how one upgrades to Win 11 for a machine that doesn't
have full time internet access, since it requires it?

I dont see any issue with requiring a microsoft account.
Furthermore, i dont see a problem with a lot of things microsoft does now, like requiring updates. for many years people wouldn't update and they'd be a botnet or have other issues and just point the finger at MS.

I've known so many families that have had to deal with that.
There's a special place in heaven for my friend... but I have always known that.
It is the same with Android, really. There is no reason why
having a Google account to use the store for downloading
free programs should be required. Then again, as I said
earlier, people is retarded and will take any crap they are
fed without questioning.
well you can just enable the feature to install from other sources.

They were talking about removing it.
I think a number of Android devices won't let you start a session
until you create a gmail accoung. I am tired of IT crap so I just
shoved GrapheneOS into my smartphone. No need for google and if you
i'm not sure i can put grapheneos on my motorola phone. it would probably be fucked up some how. looks like they support pixel phones.
