As I discussed on FSX last week, I've setup a QWK - FTN gateway for both DeveloperNet and MusicalNet. Currently, it is being tested as a private link between 2 of my BBSs. I have worked out the FTN addressing and have a working FTN link talking to the rest of the networks via the gateway. The FTN echotags have also been defined.
Addressing is as follows:
DeveloperNet - 256:8/*@devnet
FTN hub (where feeds will be offered) is 256:8/100
FTN - QWK gateway is 256:8/10
MusicalNet - 440:1/*@musicnet
FTN hub (where feeds will be offered) is 440:1/100
FTN - QWK gateway is 440:1/10
I haven't yet started on the nodelist, but that should be a fairly straightforward exercise. All I have to do is duplicate the VKRadio infrastructire and tweak the nodelist generation/hatching script to hatch the new nodelists into new file echos, which will be available for FTN connected nodes. The nodelists will also be accessible via anonymous FTP and HTTP from the gateway system.
I have, however, generated .NA files for easy importing of the echolist into new systems, which were used to setup the FTN hub. I can forward you a copy of each for the infopacks.

Thanks for setting that up. I'd be interested in the info packs.

You want me to generate the infopacks? I can do that as part of the weekly nodelist processing. I'd incorporate the existing infopacks, adding the relevant .NA file and nodelist to each one, and a simply application form for a FTN feed, just so I can get the relevant information in one place. That's a job for later in the week. :)
As for availability, files will be automatically distributed to FTN
nodes, and be available on my SBBS web/FTP server for anonymous
download.

An update: I've setup nodelist and infopack processing, and also the hatching process. But I have to create the file echo and also link the gateway to the echo. Easy stuff, just a little fiddly. :) Run out of time now, but will play later in the week. Hope to test on Friday and setup the cron jobs.

Awesome! Thanks for doing this! Hopefully, this will enable
DeveloperNet grow beyond Synchronet or any other QWK-supported BBS software.
Eric: do you plan on advertising DeveloplerNet?

I am interested in carrying the node list and infopack on my BBS, once they are hatched from your BBS. Would I need to sign up for a node
number as well? If so, I will have to go in and stop the QWK version
and switch to the FTN version.
Exciting stuff, Tony! I'm glad you're helping out with DeveloperNet. <thumb up>

Ah, I may have read you wrong the first time.. I plan to continue maintaining the info packs. I can add the FTN information to them.

Thanks for getting that set up.
BTW, I notice the ReadMe for MusicalNet has some DeveloperNet info in the intro, though the bulk of the file is correct. :) This is from the latest infopack - I downloaded copies of both infopacks on the weekend, before linking up.

Once it's all up and running, it might be worth advertising in places like OTHERNETS on Fidonet.

Thanks.. I updated the info packs recently and removed some
DeveloperNet info, but maybe I missed some of it.

I have advertised DeveloperNet and MusicalNet already.. That's how
other sysops have found out about them in the past (they've been around for about 9 years).
OK, cool. One other thing, I've added an application form for FTN. The reason is that it makes it much easier to process if I have all the info at the same time. For those wanting to connect via QWK, I've referred people back to your ReadMe, since there's no need to change anything for QWK. :)
