it's kind of neat. i used to use one on OS/2 for a while with the FTE
text editor.. it used it's syntax highlighting capability to also do
message quote colorization and highlight taglines and headers and stuff
:)
It's not bad, but still has lots of limitations where it wraps at 78 lines no matter what, doesn't support charsets other than CP437 and maybe iso-8859-1, and it doesn't actually get and put the QWK/REP packets, you have to figure that out on your own (I just wrote a couple scripts that use 'wget' to download and 'ftp' to upload, no biggie), especially if you don't want to telnet to the BBS, login, and download/upload manually.
I'm on Linux, so I'm using nano (IMO, much better for messaging than vi(m)) which also has syntax highlighting.
probably would still but the mystic editor is decent enough, and i
rather like the plain (not the fancy lightbar) message reader
Gotta use what you like, or you're not going to use it at all!
I've messed with so many different ways to message on or around a BBS, even including helping with ideas and bugtesting the Golded "clones" that were made for both Mystic and Synchronet. Tried just about every newsreader (GUI and console based) that still works/compiles via NNTP, and now I've tried Multimail.. yet here I am using Golded. ;)

Nick
